Chief Customer Officer / "CCO"


What is the ultimate goal of a company? According to Peter Drucker, father of the world’s Modern Business Management, the answer is to create customers.  In other words, an enterprise cannot survive without customers.  Therefore, in any company, one of the most important leaders who are directly responsible for creating customers is the Chief Customer Officer (CCO).

Nowadays, successful companies have several leaders supporting its operations and strategic direction. These leaders include the Director of a company, known as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Head of Finance, known as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), and the Head of Marketing, known as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).  Companies also often have a Head of Sales, who is generally known as the “Sales and Marketing Director” or “Sales and Marketing Manager.”  However, this title is now commonly being transformed into the Chief Customer Officer (CCO).

The key responsibility of a CCO is to manage an effective customers and sales management system in accordance with the company’s strategy and directions set by the CEO. Customer and sales related activities might include different functions such as marketing, trade marketing, selling and distribution, and after-sales services.  Realizing the continuous evolution in the area of sales and marketing, as well as the business environment of Vietnam, PACE has researched, designed, and compiled a targeted training program for the CCO.

The CCO has grown into a very important position in a wide variety of businesses.  In some companies, a CCO is the next position after the CEO.  It is also a profession with specific professional requirements.  To be successful in a sales career, a person needs to equip himself with necessary sales knowledge, experience, and skills.
