Program's message

Among the four management functions including Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling, Planning is the first one and plays an important role in clearly defining desired outcomes and helping to develop an action plan to achieve the set goals. This is also the basis for controlling the organization’s operations.

In this Planning function, the skills to make an action plan and performance report to track progress in order to realize the organizational and departmental goals are critical to managers. An effective work plan requires your investment in creating work items, arranging the detailed work sequence and estimating potential risks, so that your team can prepare appropriate resources and control the progress effectively.

Part I: Planning to realize goals

  • Distinguish goals and targets; 
  • Planning process:
    • Set goals;
    • Identify work items to be done to realize the goals;
    • Define the work sequence and draw the sequence diagram for implementing work items;
    • Assign works;
    • Estimate the time to complete the work items;
    • Use PERT diagram and Critical Path;
    • Use GANTT chart;
    • Define the time to perform work items;
    • Make an action plan.

Part II: Control of Implementation and Reporting

  • Develop a control plan; 
  • Identify the milestones; 
  • Set up control tables; 
  • Manage risks in implementation; 
  • Reporting system.
